GROUP:  HOUND DOGS

The vital characteristics of any Foxhound are:  quality, neither coarse nor over refined; proper structure, resulting in balance; and activity, based on movement - careful observation of the initial stride often provides the clue.  These are essentially pack hounds that are docile and friendly, though not overly demonstrative to people; not good family pets, they are rapacious hunting hounds born and bred to follow a scent and they thrive on outdoor kennel life.  Males, 22 to 25 inches; Females, 21 to 24 inches.
